AI Unveiled: Future-Proof Skills, Privacy-Savvy Development, and Educational Trajectories

Are you fascinated by the wonders of AI but feeling a bit lost in the maze of possibilities? Fear not, because this episode of the Dixre podcast will unveil the mysteries of AI. Let’s embark on this adventure into the heart of AI together!

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

We can refer to AI as the development of computer systems or software that can perform tasks that typically require some sort of human intelligence. With AI, we’re trying to create systems that mimic human intelligence, whether they’re intelligent or not is another conversation but at least they appear to be and that’s a cool thing”- Franklin Chieze

AI encompasses the development of computer systems capable of performing tasks requiring human-like intelligence. These tasks include natural language understanding, pattern recognition, decision-making, and learning from experience. AI is categorized into three main types:

  1. Narrow AI (Weak AI): Tailored for specific tasks.
  1. General AI (Strong AI): Mimics human intelligence across various domains.
  1. Artificial Superintelligence (ASI): Surpasses human intelligence in every aspect.

Branches of AI

Branches of AI such as machine learning, computer vision, robotics, natural language processing, and neural networks offer diverse opportunities. Gaining expertise in these branches is essential for effective navigation and decision-making.

Skills Needed to Future-Proof Career in AI

To future-proof your career, focus on skills like coding, problem-solving, critical thinking, and good communication. Keep learning new things and staying updated on what’s happening in your field.

How to Take Advantage of AI

Though a lot of people see AI as a threat in terms of replacing them in their workspace, but there’s a whole lot more to benefit from AI if only we allow it. We can take advantage of AI in a lot of areas like; improving job search, making living space more accessible, and facilitating our day-to-day creativity.

The Effect of AI on People’s Job

When I started learning about everything that was happening in ChatGPT, one of the things that became very clear to me was that, some of the code I’m writing now is already written, so I could have acted in fear but I jumped on it, see what I could learn about it because I know how new technologies work. Technologies themselves don’t replace people, it is people who learn those new technologies that replace people.– Franklin Chieze

One of the greatest effects AI has on people’s jobs is that it increases labor productivity by automating routine tasks while expanding employee skills and increasing the value of work. It helps you accomplish more in less time. It also creates job opportunities in fields related to AI development, implementation, maintenance, and oversight.

AI Success Stories

AI success stories are numerous and won’t end now. It has helped in transforming various fields like; aiding in healthcare diagnosis, autonomous vehicle navigation, language understanding, fraud detection, personalized recommendations, robotics automation, and environmental conservation.

Learning Challenges in AI Programming

I think the most significant challenge I faced was probably a knowledge challenge because this was my first time building an LLM project, which has a large language model application”- Franklin Chieze

AI programming brings many challenges, like understanding algorithms and handling data. You also need to pick the right model and interpret the results. Considering ethics and biases is important too. But with the right help, you can overcome these obstacles.

How Does Word Embedding Help AI Assistance?

Word embeddings are like maps for data, where each piece of information is represented as a point in space. In natural language processing, word embeddings turn words into lists of numbers. This helps AI understand what words mean and organize messages based on their meaning.

Things that Businesses can Build with Large Language Models

“We are going beyond AI that chats to AI that acts, so we want to go beyond what the user types, e.g. ‘What is blah blah to can I order a meal? Can I order lunch? I am vegan, I have this specific dietary needs and then not only is the AI able to give you recommendations of food but it’s able to send an order to the restaurant that has integrated with our system”- Franklin Chieze

What you can do with AI is numerous depending on how far and wide you can reason, it has gone beyond just asking a question and getting responses, it’s more. Just know what you want and put AI to use.

Data Privacy

Companies place a high value on protecting your data privacy. They ensure this by using your data for specific purposes only and anonymizing it at a deep level. With this level of care, users can feel confident when using AI tools like Proteus and ChatGPT, knowing their data is safe from misuse.

Parting Advice

I’m going to ask you two questions in one maybe you could just give us a quick feedback at a go, the first one is; does someone need a formal education to dive into AI, and if  someone is starting out and wants to go into AI without too much probably technical background, what kind of path would you recommend for that person?”- Samaila Bashir Chatto

Formal education gives you structure, a pathway to follow and it also gives you like-minded people to interact with but the reality is that not all of us will have the advantage or the opportunity to have a formal education in AI, like I myself I don’t. So do the best with what you have, if you are looking for a structured pathway, use platforms like Udemy and Coursera Academy,  all these platforms have a lot of AI programs there. So just go on them, and search for AI, they have a pathway from beginner to wherever you can start from knowing what you want to achieve at the end right? And that will help in the decisions that you make”- Franklin Chieze
